Who thought we’d be slowing down before Christmas? That doesn’t happen around here. We have exciting events going on this month!
On October 17th, we will be resuming our monthly sews, with social distancing protocols! We will have two shifts of 6 volunteers, with disinfecting between the shifts and socially-distanced seating. Sign up for 10- 11:30 AM, or 1-2:30 PM by emailing us at angelgownsofsouthbay@gmail.com or through our Facebook Group. First to sign up gets a spot. We will be working on 2 different projects that day. No worries if you DON’T sew- we have things for you as well! We will have some lunch- all pre-packaged and sealed for you. Please wear a mask!
On October 24th, Angel Gowns is having a GARAGE SALE!!! It will be held at the home of Helena Zuvich in Wilmington. Items may be dropped off to Helena by appointment or to the studio on the 17th. We will need help setting up and taking down the day of the event. If you can help, please contact Helena- (310) 251-4562. We will set up at 7 AM, open at 8, and close at noon. Items NOT sold will be taken to Savers. They will pay us for what we donate- small amount, but every little bit helps! So, win/win! Silvia Noriega will be pricing items on Friday, Oct 16. If you can help her, please contact Silvia at- (310) 713-2271.
On October 31st (Yup, Halloween is on a Saturday!), We are planning a Drive-By Halloween parade of decorated cars at 3 PM for the Hospice Kids. We will have a map for you although we plan to caravan to each location. The kids are at their homes and will watch from the window or front porch. They will never be able to go out and trick-or-treat like other kids. This is our way of helping them feel included during this dark time. Decorate your cars and wear a costume. This is a contact-free event. We will meet at the studio and give everyone a map, and depart from there around 2:30. If you will be joining us later, please let us know so that we can email you a map and give you an update on where we are when you are able to join us. This will be from 3-4:30, so plenty of time to get home and be ready for the onslaught of kids in costumes coming to your door!
We also have a new project started, so if you knit or crochet we can use your help! It’s the Shawl Project. When Gayle Fleury’s father passed away, nearly 3 years ago, she was gifted with a soft shawl, hand knitted, to wrap herself in and feel the love and prayers of those who had created the shawl wrapped around her. Our first shawl was created by Laura Griffin, for a woman who lost her husband to Covid at the beginning of August and her son to a brain tumor at the end of August. We welcome more volunteers! It is a fairly simple project that can be either knitted or crocheted. Directions are on: www.shawlministry.com
Whew! That’s a lot of wonderful things happening in October here at Angel Gowns. Come join us in some or all of these events!
