About Us

How We Began

Angel Gowns of South Bay was founded in February 2018 by San Pedro artist and resident, Gayle Fleury, to help ease the suffering of parents who have lost their children before, during, or shortly after birth in a small but meaningful way.

Foremost Non-profit Organization in San Pedro

Welcome to Angel Gowns of South Bay! We are a volunteer group in San Pedro, CA, that refashions donated wedding dresses into infant burial gowns at no cost to area hospitals and mortuaries, along with other community projects (such as mask production during the Covid-19 pandemic). We provide Angel Gowns or burial gowns for babies that don't survive at the time of birth or before, like a miscarriage. We also take donated wedding dresses and m... Read more

Donating Time

Angel Gowns volunteers meet every 3rd Saturday of the month at Waterfront Studios. The address is 525 N. Harbor Blvd., San Pedro, California 90732.

You don’t need to know how to sew to volunteer. We also need help taking apart gowns, hand sewing appliques, cutting out pattern pieces, and packaging finished gowns. We love the sense of community and purpose, and enjoy sharing each others’ company! Snacks included.

Check our Events Calendar for our next “sew”.

Donating Wedding Gowns

NOTE: DUE TO AN ABUNDANCE OF INVENTORY, WE ARE UNABLE TO ACCEPT ANY WEDDING DRESSES AT THIS TIME. If you would like to be put on a waitlist, please send us an email through our Contact Us page on this site, and we will contact you as soon as we are able to receive wedding dress donations again.

To drop off a gown in person, you can come to one of our meetings held every 3rdSaturday of the month. Check our Events Calendar for our next “sew”.

You can also choose to mail in your donation to Angel Gowns at 525 N. Harbor Blvd., San Pedro, California 90732.

We can also accept Christening or Confirmation gowns to be made into Angel Gowns.

You do not have to have the gowns professionally cleaned before donation. We are able to get most stains out through hand washing.

Donating Supplies

Sewing supplies are always needed and useful! Thread, sewing needles (hand or machine), fabric scissors, rotary cutters, dressmaker and safety pins, thin ribbons or lace, plastic organization tubs of all sizes, extra fabric, used sewing machines … these are just a few of the items that come in handy!

We now have a Supplies Wish List
